New Post Your Progress Thread

11680 words for Into the Abyss. I wasn't feeling like reading today, or at least this afternoon (I did read early this morning though, so I got something in), but pretty much moving things along as I go with the story.

245 words for Eagle's Wings. It's just a start since I wanted to get it out of my head. Overall, the story is shaping up to be a conflict of sorts of a new president of the United Planets and the new combative style he has for the known galaxy, much like the USA's "foreign policy" right now.

I reworked the outline for Lyetuna a bit and read through Field Survival 14 again. No real writing, but my head is still in the game, which is more than usually happens when the mania wears off.

12484 words for Into the Abyss. Some talk about using an interrogation device on the rebel soldiers, and generally about loyalty and such so far. I have to come up with some ideas on what to do. I purposefully put an essentially mechanized infantry unit doing special forces stuff, and yeah...

13507 words for Into the Abyss. Overall just some of my known characters briefing the SEAL team leader what the stakes are and his future life. Not much else going on with the story, just got that knocked out for now.

14400 words for Into the Abyss. I had stuff on the mind to write, so I wrote it. Just went over some more of the two Majors being liaison to the SEAL team and Captain Bradi goes on his first small operation.

1419 words for Into the Breach. A "secondary" book, this is continuing on from To The Stars. I do have a new faction to introduce (I did start the process years ago with a short piece in one of my books) for the 5th Kommando books that I have been writing. So far not much though, so we'll see.

I'm going ahead with a really tentative outline for the sequel to Lyetuna, tentatively called The Savlovian War. I had to restructure what was going to be a bombshell reveal for the end of Lyetuna and push that into the next book. Lyetuna ends ominously now, with anticipation and the reveal is saved now for an Act 2 low point for the next book.

All good fun.

Nice, steady progress.

15397 words for Into the Abyss. I slowly started to introduce the antagonist, President Chavez. He's the dictator type, as well as the United Planets President. Birds of a feather right? Anyway I didn't do much with Chavez, though a lying UP president makes good stories, regarding a prisoner swap

I'm hovering at 14k for my WIP. Progress comes in fits and starts, but moving forward. :)

16143 words for Into the Abyss. 743 words for a session isn't too bad though, but the rebel leader is finally realizing that Captain Bradi's troopers, aren't strictly special ops. The force that was sent was essentially a MEU (SOC) unit, and not true SOF. I think it makes a good plot device though.

17085 words for Into the Abyss. More or less dealing with the fallout of not being the right people for the job, Overall the ending the troopers will get a win. A win since they got the experience, and that they were able to find the right people. I dont want this book to be a failure for them

We are writing at about the same pace. I'm hovering around 17k, too. But my mother will be visiting this weekend so it will all come to an abrupt stop. I hope I can pick up the momentum on Monday.

Have a great weekend, everyone.

Yeah I guess so, but who knows if I'll write this weekend, but I'm sure to do some though, as I got this book to work on, and then Sunday I write an episode for my Inkspired story and such.

Have fun though...

17935 words for Into the Abyss. I'm shooting for around 50K for the book. I can do a lot of the political maneuvering since I never served in Special Forces, so I can eat up some of the book with the SEAL team being done with. But I do have some ideas for the kinetic part of the book too.

I'm somewhere around 19k. In bed at the moment, too lazy to get up and start the day. But work demands it.
But I do have some ideas for the kinetic part of the book too.
Kinetic? Is that specific to your world-building or a writing term I'm unfamiliar with?

Not been writing, but I have been saving links and summaries of news items on Russia's war, Generative / LLM AI, Authoritarian shifts, crypto-currencies, Brexit, right wing reaction to immigrants and Middle East etc. The 8th & last part of the Talents Universe is mostly set on Earth in 2025, but there are approx 50,000 refugees, descendants of humans abducted by aliens 2000 to 3500 years ago. Spoiler: no-one will take them.
