New Post Your Progress Thread

I'm somewhere around 19k. In bed at the moment, too lazy to get up and start the day. But work demands it.

Kinetic? Is that specific to your world-building or a writing term I'm unfamiliar with?
It's a term for gunslinging and shooting people. Maybe I shouldn't have said it that way, but usually that refers to that.

18896 words for Into the Abyss. I had watched an Arma 3 mission on YT and thought that would make a good mission in the story. I didn't go into too much depth with the engagement, since the rebels and good guys took the facility. I mean, it could be later on, maybe, but wasn't feeling it.

Oh! Interesting. I've never heard of that. :)

Somewhere over 20k now and the story is chugging along. :D
It's a military term. Kinetic is shooting, :"non-kinetic" and "Less lethal." etc. are various terms, with the last two being stuff like tear gas, rubber bullets, etc.

I haven't worked on my story obviously, but tomorrow I need to do some writing.

19543 words for Into the Abyss. I'm a little distracted by a package on the way to my apartment, but managed to squeak in some words. Overall I set the reason why Major Vriend is hot to know where Major Juniper is from, because she turned him down and he's bitter. That and other stuff as well.

I retooled the outline for Lyetuna (third book) further and built a map, complete with highways, rivers, restricted terrain markers, settlements and political boundaries to figure out how this war is going to go in the fourth book (working title: The Savlovian War), and it's going somewhat well. I'm really getting some ideas to even incorporate into the third book.

No real writing, except for the Microfic contest.

Also, on that note, here's a shameless plug to read and vote on this month's entries

20763 words for Into The Abyss. Nothing special, just some conversations and the need to worry about bringing somebody to your hotel room when you're drunk and sleeping with somebody.

21903 words for Into the Abyss. I had watched a video of a mission for #Arma3 and found that as a good inspiration for the mission I just wrote up for the story. Overall I like how it turned out, and learning not to get overly detailed too much (it wasn't necessary) in the firefights.

22531 words for Into the Abyss. Forced writing is okay, but it was fairly productive, offering some insight to the junta President's view on the attack of his confidant. I haven't written much, but it's serving the plot, so I will see if I can keep it around 50K though.

Woohoo! Good to see all the progress.

My WIP is sitting at around 46k. Trucking along. I estimate I'll have it done at the end of the year and it will probably be around 115k or so (just based on where I'm at in the story).

And it's raining today. :)

I'm shooting for 50 or so K for the book I'm working on. I don't need to embellish what is essentially a "failed" mission.

23603 words for Into The Abyss. I'm starting to wind down the presence, and may make it to less or around 30K or maybe 40K. I figured that I could make it at least 50K but that seems like a stretch now. The current series isn't like the 2-4 Cavalry series, where I had a lot to write before.

24440 words for Into the Abyss. I really like using my former FMC in things. She's a character that I can't kill off yet, nor will I. Anyway she was giving getting laid advice to her counterpart, a male, on doing one night stands, and a new mission for the unit on the planet of the rebels.

My WIP is at 54k. Half way through the book and my characters have completed their false victory. I can see the end! I'm guesstimating about another 46k, more or less.

26121 words for Into the Abyss. Doing some recon and my former FMC dodging a question of why the general shepherded you when you crossed dimensions likes you. Anyway, some more conversation and so on, and starting the recon of a mysterious building, and why people die so easily when looking at it.

26888 words for Into The Abyss. I need to close up the rebel angle, get the Kommando team there so they can switch responsibilities, etc. that the military loves to do in an austere environment. Usually the team should have a week to prepare and receive the team, and they shadow, but not this time..
