Painted Man / Warded Man exclusive

(2009-01-05)

OK: we don't like to shout about things much here at SFFWorld. However, we understand that this is a bit of an exclusive, and I couldn't wait to pass the details on!

Peter V. Brett has told us about a new hardcover and very exclusive edition of The Painted Man (known in the US as The Warded Man) which is due out in the UK later in 2009 (We're guessing March/April, but obviously these things are subject to change.)

Over to the man himself, to explain further:

Here's the scoop. Voyager is (soon) launching a new website.

Part of the new website will be a store where they will sell exclusive limited edition deluxe versions of Voyager books, the first of which, it was decided long ago, would be The Painted Man.

The deluxe version will be a slip-cased hardback edition made up to look like a warding grimoire. The run will be limited to 500, all signed and numbered by yours truly, with a ribbon to mark your page, and four internal color illustrations by the amazing Larry Rostant, who did the fantastic covers for The Painted Man and The Desert Spear. It will also have a glossary, my hand-drawn character avatars to show whose POV the chapters are in, and a color version of the map from the regular hardback, probably printed on the inside covers as endpaper.

But wait! There's more! The deluxe edition will contain The Great Bazaar, a never-before-seen 14,000 word backup story about Arlen during his Messenger days, and how he comes upon the map to the lost city of Anoch Sun. It's action-packed and fills in some of the blanks about Arlen's past from the time-jumps in the first book.

Thanks Peter!

Sounds wonderful.

The website (though not running yet, but soon) is:

www.voyagerbooks.co.uk

and then there's Peter's very own site:

The Painted Man was one of my Top 5 Fantasy books of 2008, and much liked by others too. Those details are at:
