ABC to Air "Masters of Science Fiction" (2007-07-09)The ABC Network in the U.S. plans to air four episodes of its sf anthology series, "Masters of Science Fiction," in August on Saturday nights. The episodes are narrated by renowned physicist Prof. Stephen Hawking.
Episode #1 -- "A Clean Escape" -- Based on the story by John Kessel, set in a post-apocalyptic future in which a psychiatrist tries to pry secrets from a man with amnesia. Starring Judy Davis and Sam Waterston
Episode #2 -- "The Awakening" -- Based on the story by Howard Fast about U.S. soldiers outside of Baghdad who discover a mysterious casualty that doesn't seem to be human. Starring Terry O'Quinn and Elisabeth Rohm.
Episode #3 -- "Jerry Was a Man" -- Based on the story by Robert A. Heinlein about the world's seventh richest couple whose lives are changed when they acquire an anthropod named Jerry. Starring Anne Heche and Malcolm McDowell.
Episode #4 -- "The Discarded" -- Based on the story by Harlan Ellison, who co-wrote the teleplay, set in a time when despised minorities are sentenced to drift in outer space. These convicts make a desperate pact in hope of being offered a refuge back on Earth. Starring Brian Dennehy, John Hurt and James Denton.
There are two other episodes in the anthology series, but no word on when or if those might be broadcast.
