Shaun of the DeadI can't really explain how low my expectations for this movie were when I was sitting down to watch. Maybe something akin to watching paint dry would be a good description... The whole concept really sounded like a bad rip-off of a bad C movie.
The Zombies are on the loose rambling through the streets of London and electronics salesman Shaun and his rather slob of a roommate Ed set out on a mission to rescue Liz, Shaun's former girlfriend who has just dumped him. Shaun is however convinced he can win her back.
What can I say, it hardly took a minute to realize I had been dead wrong about this movie. It was great, had me hooked from the beginning to the end.
Simon Pegg does a great job as the not so bright Shaun. One of the most memorable scenes is when he goes to the grocery store walking all in his own mind without even noticing the zombies on the loose and what's going on. Also Nick Frost as his slacker best friend Ed is quite memorable. Actually I think all the odd characters are played quite well and that's what I really like about this movie, there's a whole bunch of these oddballs that you can't help but like.
A horror-comedy-romance at its best. Down to earth characters and through it all a healthy dose of British humor.
