Battlestar Galactica the MiniSeriesWith this miniseries starts the new Battlestar Galactica series which is a rewrite of the 70's show. I must admit I haven't seen the original, though from what I understand, the new series is very true to the original story. However there are some major differences and that is that some of the characters who were male in the 70's now are female.
40 years after the Cyclon Wars the Battlestar Galactica is being decommissioned and Commander William Adama is retiring from active duty. Suddenly, out of nowhere the Cyclon robots who have been gone since the war mount a surprise attack and wipes out almost the whole human race. It befalls Battlestar Galactica and Commander Adama to yet again lead the humans in their fight against the Cyclons; who now also have taken human form.
What I liked about this miniseries is how it's more about the people and the story than about technology, and what a story... In my opinion it is exceptionally good and best of all there is a cast to match it.
I would without a doubt say that within this "genre" of scifi this is some of the absolute best I've seen. So even if it's a rewrite and the original series only lasted for a season I would be very surprised if we're not going to see Battlestar Galactica around for years to come. In my opinion it doesn't get much better than this.
