3. Deadlines

Well, to quote Douglas Adams, "I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by."

While I always meet deadlines at work, I am not so successful at writing. This time the issue was I spend too much time doing nothing in the story. I realized this was a problem and came up with a different approach angle, but just ran out of time.

5. Day Brightner

Having had a frustrating week of itching due to a case of poison ivy, I was feeling, shall we say, less than friendly. Late last night I decided to check my podcasts for my Zune, which I had not downloaded for a while, and got a happy suprise.

A new Squonk tale by P.M. Butler. Who is Squonk you say? Well, he is a Dragon who has appeared in two short stories read on the fantasy site Podcastle.org. I became aquainted with him in his adventure "Squonk and the horde of apprentices" ...
6. Did you just crawl out from under a rock?

To be inspired? I'll do almost anything (keep reading to find out about the rock).

So, picture nine beautiful ladies, dressed to inspire—bumping, grinding, singing, spitting poetry, being all tragic or comedic, going on about the stars and history and stuff around one man with his hands all over his instrument.

Not sure where your mind was, but I'm talking about the Muses, ...

7. Review: Wrath of the Titans (or Titan?)

WARNING: Spoilers ahead for those who haven't seen the movie.

I'm certainly not one to criticize the rewriting of mythology since my novel, Task Force: Gaea, does that by tweaking Greek mythology. After all, people spread myths by word of mouth before they did so in writing, so changes invariably happened. In fact, depending on whether you ascribe to Hesiod or Orphism, you get a variety of myths on the same subject. Keeping this in mind, I watched Wrath of the Titans, the sequel ...

9. I Want it Back

I just want to state here and now, that if by some freak occurance the Republicans get total control of the government and do away with Social Security, I want all the money I put in back. I beleive that is my right as a citizen. If I am never to see any service for the money I put in, then I deserve a refund. Think of the costs to a Republican government if we all stood up for our rights and demanded our money back for lack of fulfilling their obligation. We were made to give them money because ...
10. Weak Political Sign

I came across a sign that an obvious republican small business owner put up at their business. It said "Socialism is equal sharing of Misery." I found this extremely funny because of how poorly thought out it was given that most of these same republican's define themselves as morally upstanding Christians. Is not sharing the burdens of the downtrodden what Christ asks of us. Talk about moral conflicts.
11. Cassira is missing

"Cassira is missing."

Valevia's first though was, that's impossible. Cassira is safe with Deana. Deana was a black belt in the art of defense. She was Cassira's protector. Valevia had left Cassira with Deana because she knew and trusted that with her Cassira would always be safe. It was not possible for Valevia to have been wrong about something so important.

"You are mistaken, surely." Valevia responded lightly.

Brady shook ...

12. The Day After

It was just one day after Cassira had been healed, and already she was running from one end of the enclosed hospital playground to the other. I felt tired, drained of all strength, yet Cassira appeared to possess the energy of a fireball. I smiled through it whenever she flashed that beautiful, hopeful smile my way. I was sitting at a wooden picnic table in the corner by the fence, it was the only table unoccupied by parents, babysitters, and other childminders, I was sitting there downing my ...

13. Horror Among the Gods

Considering what many people know (or don’t know) about the gods of Greek myth, it’s not surprising to learn that the idea of horror doesn’t really factor into the mythology. Some of the myths and legends may indeed frighten, but very few actually are intended to invoke that nausea that emanates from a story where blood, bile, and other bodily fluids are ripped or drained from a human. Certain myths tell of horrific events, things that mere mortals wouldn’t be able to stomach for long, but the stories ...

15. Indexical Zero Theory

Here's a glimpse of what I am about to publish to this week:

“So what about the two buttons on the right?” asked Dion, “do they also have an up, a down, and a still position?”
“Up, down, and normal. By normal we mean that it only reacts to what we do with the five other buttons. In the up position we go up the Pascal Triangle, line by line, toward the first simplex, until there is no line left, just the number 1, the only degree of remoteness known to the primitives. When an ...
