I was thinking of having under eye glare protectors made with Stewart 1:16 on them like some football players I know. Of course, this is not a passage from the New Testament like the football players use, but is a reference to an episode of the Daily Show with John Stewart on 1/16/12. The part of the show I am concerned with describes working conditions for Chinese laborers at a high tech plant like the many that supply us with our ceaseless demand for electronic junk. This is just another aspect ...

I would like to know if there are any publishing companies that provide a royalty or commission to any inhouse authors? If so, what % and or amount?
This is an old one, and a bit fuzzy, but it captures his spirit so well. Who could resist those big, floppy ears?
As I've mentioned, I've only been on the site for a week and I am amazed by the strong sense of community and support I've seen. It's so much different from the music scenes of most towns, where everyone is nice to each others' faces then turn around and talk crap about their bands or try to screw their girlfriends. I guess I just want to say thanks. There is so much talent and caring here that I have a renewed hope for humanity.
What is the nature of physical laws? Do they follow from number, do they follow from love? Are they necessary or contingent? And if they are contingent, that is to say, if they only came about by happenstance, can they change? I believe a physical law is only a law if it is necessarily true. So what do you get in a writer's universe if you discard a few laws? You can't simply say that more things will be possible, because it may just be the laws that make things possible. So does a physical ...
As I looked upon the heavenly sky. Bright stars glittered as I gazed. It made me realise how small we are. There's an entire galaxy. What else is there for us to explore? What else will we find? As I looked up at the stars I thought how beautiful they are. Some stood out much more brighter than others. Then I looked at the stars as if they were people. Some of us stand out while others blend in with the crowd. ...
The other day on my Wordpress blog, I posted about what we moderators do here at SFFWorld.com. Specifically, I wanted to let other folks just like me (new writers) know what they shouldn't do on discussions forums. Below is an excerpt and below that are my initial thoughts on our new Promotion Zone. ******************************* SFFWorld.com is a place to read and talk about genre (Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror/Speculative/Whatever-You-Want-To-Call-It) ...
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: the Fantasy/SF/Horror genres have some of the best, friendliest and just nicest people any genre would be lucky enough to have. This article proves it. Turning an awful situation into something positive, however small. Where else would you get such things happen? Free, and often without publicity. These two mentioned are not the first, either. Made me proud to be part of the genre, ...
After some advice, I have chosen to make the Bluehaven Manifesto a private blog that can only be accessed by invite. Basically, I don't want to give out a free first draft. Anyone interested in reading and (more helpfully) critiquing it as it goes up may contact me via albrecht.zimmerman@gmail.com. Thanks
Wouldn't it be nice if we could live as one. Not caring for religion, colour of skin, nationality or if someone was gay or straight. If we all could just accept everyone for who they are as an individual. Wouldn't it be nice if we could leave the door open when we left the house. Instead of worrying if we'll get robbed. We'd be able to live a care free life. Wouldn't it be nice if we could see the world through a newborn baby's eyes. ...
I am brand new to the site and very excited about everything it has to offer. My name is Trevor J Wallace, but I generally use that name for my forays into journalism. Here, I will be known as Albrecht Zimmer. I think it has a nice alchemical odor and separates my fiction from my other writings. I have just put up two of my short stories on the site (the only two I felt ready to share) and I am also rough drafting my novel as a blog so those interested can see it grow and develop (not to mention ...
Well isn't it wonderful to be at the start of a journey. And the best way to start, they say is with a small step. So I have posted my small step in the form of a story. Please read, be honest but most of all be AFRAID!!
For those that are ready to read a new and fresh fiction/fantasy series with a little humor and a dash of spice that is like no other before or after, then look no further. (Drum Roll) http://vic-velasquez.blogspot.com http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...quez&x=10&y=16
The other day on my other blog, I posted about the Writer’s Digest pass give away for the 2012 San Francisco’s Writers Conference (this week!). In order to qualify for the give away, one simply had to post about it at least two times on social networks. A blog is an acceptable social network. As is Twitter and Facebook. And that’s pretty much it. They did mention if you didn’t have access to those social networks you could get your friends to Tweet or post to Facebook, ...
It's based on my monthly Alien Hunter series that was published in the Golden Visions Magazine for some 14 months: http://www.lulu.com/product/paperback/alien-hunter-star-trooper/18896512?productTrackingContext=search_results/search_shelf/center/3 At the moment it is only available on the Lulu site but it will become more broadly available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble etc and in 4 weeks or so will also be available as an e-book on a range of e-readers such ...
