Mists of memory writhe in the dark
Pulsing purple with the rhythm of life
Born in the depths of tomorrow
Their bright curls fade to ghosts
As they drift upward to yesterday

Standing among the swirls
I turn this way, twist that
Willing them to linger
Grasping with foolish hope
As they dance through my fingers

The smoky, twisting pillars
Once throbbing in carnal backbeat
Soften into wispy tendrils
Yet the dissolving tunes of love
Linger as refrains in my heart
