My Melancholy by Roy Neyman

My melancholy is a friend
I harbor in my heart.
The ancient sailor of my soul,
he stands up tall to speak
And whispers loud above the wind,
outshines the noisy sun,
"What is my worth, what do I bring
to life's tumultuous sea?"
An answer crashes on the beach,
to surge about my feet,
"The wisdom of a well-lived life,
a course to inner strength,
A hole to fill, to overflow
with love and joy and hope."
