Wheel by Ian Smith

The world is a wheel
that breaks everything
without fail.

A smokewisp, a bird's ghost,
thought he was a hawkhorse.

The hawk is a twisting whirlpool
that strips your flesh off
and pounds the mechanism
of your mind into dust.

Seek death,
abandon everything,
want nothing,
and for the first time,
the world will open up to you,
and you will gain
everything.
