The Power of the Sea by Leah GoodeI walk
I skip
And I fly to the beach
Where the sand melts beneath my bare and exploring feet
And there's the occasional prickle of a sea shell on the shore
The water ripples and the waves make a sound so strong that it forces everyone to surrender to their tides
I take a leap and dive into the sea
I am beneath the world above
It's a very different kind of world
Just the feeling of being wrapped in the arms of the ocean is overpowering
I can taste the salt and my body relaxes and falls limp to the power of the ocean
My body is just calm and serene
Taking in the tranquil movements of the glittering water
As I relax
I am aware of my surroundings
A rainbow of different colored fish pass by
Most of the fish are very small
But in the horizon I see the shadow of a very large fish
I feel the bubbles from the breath of the sea glide across my nose
Lightly tickling it
I see the reflection of the sunset and am petrified at the beauty
But all of this can't last forever
But what may seem so
I must come back to reality and leave the split second of peace and calm
But soon I will come back and taste the salt again.
