Dear Wang Wei,
Sitting by the stream,
It was not the spring wind but I
Who came blowing you falling flowers!

Beloved Ryokan,
How brightly you shine,
Brighter even than the moon
You hoped to share with me that night!

Wise Ikkyu,
In your floating world,
Often you have made me laugh,
Though I think your story was finally sad.

Tea-loving Issa,
Watching petals fall,
You knew the simple road
That is found through trust in all!
