A good story. The "time - thing" doesn´t bother me. I´m no expert but when I read a short story it is a great plus if the characters are interesting. In a few pages I saw three persons that I would like to read more about. I was wondering on what this "future" is based on. In most space-stories the force and muscle comes galactic states not companies aimed at profit. I will be watching for more stories, and hopefully books, to come.

Well just in the first paragraph, Stars dont 'Pass by'. Also, the laws of physics dictate that the Faster an object travels through space, time becomes SLOWER - Not faster. use google for things like that, Wikipedia can be your best friend if you're not sure about something. I wanted to comment now whilst I remembered :P
