David Gemmell brings the trojan war and its heroes to life, he puts a new slant on the trojan horse myth, characters you can feel, breathe, admire and loathe at the same time.
The battle scenes are huge and immence, bloody and frightening, BUT the way he lets your mind and imagination absorb his words and lets you the reader make your mind up on how a person looks or feels is really up to the individual.
Yes i am a big big fan but if i had to take a book on a desert island i would happily take the Troy trilogy with me, or any other of Davids books.
