(Nov 13, 2000)I really enjoyed the first two books in this series and I am anxiuosly waiting to read the third one. I really enjoyed how Mercedes Lackey continues her tale of Valdemar. In this first book you learn about Darien, a young apretenice to the village wizard. When barbarians raid the town and the wizard kills himself to save the village. Darien flees the village and encounters the famous hawkbrothers who take care of him. He learns the hawkbrother way of life and they make him a part of their family. I really enjoyed this book as well as the second in the series. I am a big fan of Mercedes Lackey books but I would also like to read other fantasy bokk.
