Revolt In 2100 by Robert A. Heinlein

This book, written over 50 years ago, predicts the USA under complete control of a religious organization controlled by the "Prophet", complete with an annual "miracle". The story is about the attempt to overthrow the religious leadership.

I haven't read this book in many years but everytime I read about the latest nonsense in our current government (circa 2007), the belief system that supports creationism under the guise of intelligent design (these words should NOT be capitalized), and the general state of ignorance and apathy we see everywhere, I'm reminded of this great book. I only hope it doesn't take up to 2100 in real life to repair the damage.

One is left to wonder how Heinlein could have known what would happen 50 years later!
